My mission is to guide folks to uncommon wealth. When I get asked what I mean by “uncommon wealth”, it’s always a great reminder that I’m still on my own journey in understanding that question myself, which started on a Friday afternoon over ten years ago.
Slipping out of the office a little early on of one those perfect Friday afternoons, under a cool, crisp blue sky, I headed north on the tollway towards home. Life was good. As I went through the second tollbooth, listening to the radio, tears started filling my eyes. It wasn’t some nostalgic song playing; it was a talk radio financial show, of all things. Little did I know at the time, God was trying to get my attention. My wife Connie and I were enjoying a good life, as we had been extremely disciplined in our finances for many years, to the point we had developed our own wealth building system which would eventually become the basis for my book.
If you know me at all or have ever heard me speak, you know I’m totally convinced that anyone who follows my Wealth Builder 10 Steps as laid out in my book will no doubt build “common” wealth and become a wealth builder, and that’s a good thing. I guess you could stop right there if you wanted to, but for me, a deeper question evolved out of my Godly tollbooth encounter that Friday afternoon:
How do I build “uncommon” wealth?
I would like to tell you the answer came quickly, but it didn’t. As a matter of fact it’s a work in progress, but I have come to realize the answer is centered in understanding ownership. I found it easy to say, “God Owns It All”, then quote Psalm 24:1; “The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness. The world and those who dwell therein.” But then I slowly began to understand it wasn’t in the saying of the words, but in the spiritual transfer of my ownership to God. It was during the shifting of ownership when I observed firsthand the results of Uncommon Wealth; results that were witnessed in achieving dreams (goals) which were yielding life and joy.
Boom. There it is in a nutshell. When our dreams are producing life and joy, that’s Uncommon Wealth!
Watch out for those tollbooth encounters.
Enjoy your dreams,
Guiding Folks to Uncommon Wealth
P.S. Here’s a little musical gift from my wife, Connie Mims Pinkerton, called “Enough”. Enjoy!
