It’s Beginning to Feel a lot like Christmas

Well, guess what? Christmas in just a few days away. And whether we’re ready or not, it’s coming. Hopefully, you took my September blog to heart; How to Get Ready for the Best Christmas Ever. But even if we have planned every detail, hung every ornament and bought every present there may still be an uneasiness about the next few days; aka, The Christmas Uneasiness.

Christmas Uneasiness comes from the concern, or some might even say, the fear that Christmas this year just won’t feel like Christmas.  So how can you make sure that Christmas really does feel like Christmas?

I don’t often use the word guarantee, but I think I know a great way to ensure that this Christmas will really feel like Christmas. It’s really quite simple:

Discover the Christmas Story
In a quiet place by yourself, read the Christmas story from Matthew 1:18-24, 2:1-15 and Luke 2:1-20 from the Holy Bible. Whether you’ve read it before, I encourage you to read it like it’s the first time you’ve ever heard the story. Whichever version you select, read it out loud. Listen to the words.

Gather Together
Maybe before or after Christmas dinner, or before the Christmas packages are opened, or after the special Christmas breakfast, gather your family and those who are dear to you and read the Christmas story to them- from your heart to theirs.

Share Together
After reading the story aloud, create the opportunity for everyone to share what the Christmas story means to them.

Proclaim Together
Proclaim that the Christmas story is the reason why Christmas is something special; why that Christmas feeling makes this the most wonderful time of the year.

Can reading a simple story really replace that Christmas Uneasiness with a Christmas that actually feels like Christmas? Join me and my family as we find out, too, this year.

Here’s a musical Christmas card from Connie, “Mary, Did You Know?”.

And have yourself a merry little Christmas, now.
